TASTER CLASSES

An introductory class for students new to pole dance. Taster classes may be taken more than once.
(1-hour class: $25)

8-WEEK COURSES

A thorough introduction to pole dance, for the beginner. Course covers all spins, floorwork, climbing, and dance choreography including technique/transitions, etc. *Portland Community College Beginner Pole Dance Course has the same curriculum as a regular Beginner course. Refines choreography/moves from Beginner. Increased level of difficulty with the introduction of basic inversions and aerial moves. More focus on strength and agility. Introduction to basic moves on spinning pole. Course covers moves such as Inverted V, Inverted Crucifix, Reiko and Pole Box Split, all pull-ups/releases, Outside/Inside Leg Hang, etc. (One 2-hour class/week for 8 weeks: $280)

Continues to polish moves and poses learned in previous courses and introduces more difficult aerial moves. Students may choreograph an individual 3-4 minute routine(s) and/or group routine(s) including inversions, aerial moves, climbing, spins and floor work to perform at the Intermediate II Recital held at the end of this class. (One 2-hour class/week for 8 weeks: $280)

Broaden your poles moves and learn creative poses from the foundations learned in Intermediate I and II while increasing strength and stamina on the pole. Example of moves taught are Vortex, Poisson, and Eclipse as well as new transitions from the floor and shoulder mounts. (One 2-hour class/week for 8 weeks: $280)

Course covers advanced aerial moves/combos. Strength, endurance and flexibility training are stressed. Complex spinning pole transitions are introduced. Course covers advanced moves such as Aerial Shoulder Mount, Bird’s Nest, L-hang, Brass Monkey, Jade, Elbow Grip/Handspring moves, etc. Prerequisites: Aerial Inverted V/Aerial Invert/Shoulder Mount. (One 2-hour class/week for 8 weeks: $280)

Extreme advanced aerial combinations/contortion moves at maximum height are taught. Advanced spinning pole combos are also covered. Elbow Grip/Handspring Mount, Knee Hold, Twisted Handspring, Flag, Allegra, and Yogini are some examples of moves covered. Students will choreograph a solo(s) and/or group routine(s) to be performed at the Advanced II Recital, held at the end of this course. (One 2-hour class/week for 8 weeks: $280)

Gravity defying drops/combos/contortion poses at maximum height are taught. Acrobatic floorwork and gymnastics are also incorporated into choreography. This course covers moves such as Reverse Elbow Grip, Elbow Grip/Handspring Cartwheel, Bat Wing, Eros Flip, Fongi, Dove Drop, Rainbow Marchenko, etc. Students will choreograph a solo(s) and/or group routine(s) to be performed at the Advanced III Recital, held at the end of this course. Prerequisites: Aerial Shoulder Mount/Vertical and/or Center Split. (One 2-hour class/week for 8 weeks: $280)

4-WEEK SERIES

Use Beginner and lower level Intermediate I moves and combine them together to create unique Intermediate pole combinations & transitions, spinning and stationary. Learn smooth transitions focusing on technique and then style. Focus on technical entrances and exits in and out of Intermediate aerial combinations while applying tension in speed and rotation. Prerequisite: Beginner course or past Beginner level. Chopper/Inverted Crucifix/Handstand. (One 1.5-hour class/week for 4 weeks: $140)

Use Intermediate moves and combine them together to create unique, advanced, aerial pole combinations, spinning and stationary. Learn smooth transitions focusing on technique and then style. Focus on technical entrances and exits in combinations while applying tension in speed and rotation. Prerequisite: Int. II and/or Shoulder Mount/Aerial Chopper. (One 1.5-hour class/week for 4 weeks: $140)

Learn super advanced pole combos using tumbles, advanced aerial transitions and mounts/dismounts. Increase your flow with intense aerial combos that smooth out transitions and passes. This series focuses on technique and style. Super Advanced technical entrances and exits will be taught in combination with applying tension in speed and rotation. Prerequisite: Completion of Adv. II or Adv. III. True/Twisted/Cup Grip Handspring. Aerial Shoulder Mount/Reverse Elbow Grip Mount or Dismount. (One 1.5-hour class/week for 4 weeks: $140)

Learn how to control speed and momentum, minimize motion sickness, and gracefully (dis)mount from a spinning pole. A variety of spins, unique to spinning pole, will be taught as well as aerial combos focusing on proper safety technique, weight distribution, opposing forces and momentum control. Prerequisite: Intermediate II. Aerial Chopper/Shoulder Mount or Dismount. (One 1.5-hour class/week for 4 weeks: $140)

Accelerate your stretching practice from adequate to next level. Learn advanced techniques that increase mobility. This advanced level will approach back, shoulders, hip, and leg flexibility with an emphasis on alignment, and supportive strength conditioning. Special attention will be given to developing range of motion in introductory contortion movements and poses through assisted stretches. Participants must have at least one of three splits (R/L vertical, center) and be able to press up into a bridge. Dress in layers, paying attention to coverage for the knees. ****15 minute independent warm up at the start of each class time. Be warm and ready to begin with splits and backbends.**** (One 1.5-hour class/week for 4 weeks: $140)

Focusing on the style of exotic pole, which derived from strip clubs and has brought pole dancing to the mainstream, this series will help you smooth out and stylize your exotic movement while on the floor and on the pole. Learn old school and new school strip club choreo and pole combos. You will incorporate all the click clacking, body rolling, classic floor work, hair whipping, and twerk action to add to your exotic poler repertoire. *class attire: HEELS. Shorts/pole bottoms. Full leg coverage (i.e. leg warmers, long socks, sweat/yoga pants or leggings) and a comfortable top. Level: Intermediate/Advanced prerequisites: aerial chopper | shoulder mount | handspring(s) from invert. (One 1.5-hour class/week for 4 weeks: $140)

WORKSHOPS

This workshop teaches creative Advanced floorwork, from pole to floor and floor to pole. Type of moves taught are cartwheels and flips on the pole, acro transitions, pole assisted front & back walkovers, as well as fun pole assisted inversions and more. *class attire: Full leg & feet coverage (sweat pants, leggings, yoga pants) and a comfortable top. Footwear can be socks, ballet slippers, dance paws, etc. Prerequisites: Chopper/Shoulder Mount/Handspring(s) from Invert. (1.5-hour workshop: $40)

An hour long choreography workshop incorporating hair and heels! Learn sultry transitions from floor to pole to bring out your inner fox with every hair flip. *class attire: Heels and your sexiest pole wear. Prerequisite: Completion of Beginner course, or past Beginner level. (1-hour workshop: $35)

This fun workshop will focus on partner communication, basic doubles climbing, advanced signature tricks, doubles transitions and acrobatic poses. Register with your doubles partner. Don’t have a doubles partner? No worries! Students without partners will be paired up. Prerequisites: Chopper/Invert/Shoulder Dismount. (1.5-hour workshop: $40)

For advanced Polers who want to learn advanced doubles transitions and moves. Includes advanced variations of doubles climbing, advanced signature doubles moves/combos, doubles transitions and acrobatic poses. Register with your doubles partner. Don’t have a doubles partner? No worries! Students without partners will be paired up. Prerequisites: Aerial Chopper or Aerial Invert/Shoulder Mount. (1.5-hour workshop: $40)

Learn all the different handsprings grips – split/true grip, twisted grip, cup grip, elbow grip – and unique handspring variations in this purely handspring workshop! Learn how to safely condition for handsprings. This workshop also focuses on handspring mount entrances be it momentum, dead lifting or both. Prerequisites: Intermediate/Advanced. Aerial Chopper/Handspring from Inverted Crucifix. (1.5-hour workshop: $40)

A workshop devoted to all things booty! We’ll be building on classics like the Dorothy and the Salt Shaker, as well as introducing new techniques such as the Shimmy and the Dirty Dog. Inverted booty shaking will be introduced for all levels of pole ability, from elbow stand to handspring. Bring your comfy shorts and your swagger! All levels. (1-hour workshop: $35)

Your 1-stop Drop Shop! Learn aggressive drops and tumble downs that are jaw dropping and fierce. Starting with introductory drops and building off that, this workshop will also teach linear drop/tumble down combos that will leave your audiences speechless! Prerequisites: Int. II or Aerial Chopper/Shoulder Mount/Handsprings from Invert. (1.5-hour workshop: $40)

Pole Fit Workshop is here to prep you for all things pole! This conditioning workshop will help build upper and lower body strength using floor and pole exercises specific to developing your pole dance skills. You will learn basic contact points through the exercises as well as muscle recruitment and engagement for foundational moves. Take this workshop prior to starting pole, or consecutively to keep you conditioned while continuing to advance in your abilities. Difficulty can be adjusted for all levels. All levels. (1-hour 15-min workshop: $20)

DROP-IN

See above for class descriptions. (8-week course or 4-week series drop-in: $40)

A supervised, non-instructed, 1.5-hour practice session. An instructor is present to assist as necessary. (Enrolled: $5/session. Not enrolled: $10/session)

A flexibility training and conditioning class. Resistance, partner stretching and TheraBand exercises may be incorporated to safely condition and stretch the body. Reach your flexibility goals in this class! All levels. (1-hour class: $15)

A pole dance choreography class focused on dance technique and floorwork transitions. New choreography every week. Gain fluidity while dancing on the floor. Prerequisites: Completion of Beginner course, or past Beginner level. (1-hour class: $15)

Learn transitions on and off the pole using dance technique and technical form. Incorporate dance disciplines such as basic ballet foundations to help build core strength & balance. Isolations are covered to build fluidity and musicality. Basic spins, leaps and floor work, off the pole, are also taught to add to your pole repertoire. The perfect prep course for the performer be it auditions, recitals, or competition. Prerequisite: Beginner course or past Beginner level. Chopper/Inverted Crucifix/Handstand dismount. (One 1.5-hour class: $15)
